'...his playing remains as jaw dropping as ever.'

Over the past twenty-five years, internationally acclaimed bassist, singer and composer Avishai Cohen has earned a place among the legendary figures of contemporary jazz. He was voted one of the '100 Most Influential Bass Players of the Twentieth Century' by Bass Player Magazine, and named 'one of the most passionately intelligent and powerful jazz bassists on the planet today' (Bass Guitar Magazine). Avishai has appeared with orchestras, small ensembles and even as a duet, but the trio format continues to define his output.

The compositions on his new album, Shifting Sands (released May 2022), were born at home near Jerusalem on his piano during the COVID-19 pandemic. This kept him off the road for the first time in years, but the compositions came to life when the trio played a handful of shows in the summer of 2021 in Europe, before they travelled to Sweden to record them.

In Australia to headline the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Avishai Cohen makes an exclusive appearance at UKARIA with his new trio line-up, performing original compositions from Shifting Sands, alongside fan favourites from his vast musical library.
