Za Górami is the name of this trio’s critically acclaimed first album. It translates from Polish as ‘behind the mountains’ but it implies something like ‘once upon a time’ used to introduce stories and fairytales. Allusions to mystery and mastery develop naturally from the group’s combined heritage and celebrated careers.
Their fusion of folk idioms has forged a stylistic world of their own, combining traditional song, chamber music, improvisation and jazz in fluid musical forms. This concert will capture their first recording project together.
‘Collected on our travels and taught to us by our friends, these are songs we have learnt and loved together. Gathered from Argentina, France, Venezuela, Poland and the deep well of Sephardic culture, these folk tales speak to the moon, the mountains, the rain, the madness of humans and the prophecies of birds.’ – Alice, Fred and Misha
