'You can play jazz trumpet with a rhythm section, a jazz combo, a brass ensemble or even a big band – they’re all collections that give the soloist a musical setting in which to create. This performance will set Patrick Bartley and I within a wonderland of twelve vocalists, led by The Idea of North’s esteemed alto, Naomi Crellin. Sometimes a cappella, sometimes with rhythm section, they will take us from hymns to samba, from swing to bossa nova, and even perhaps to musical heaven. If you love vocal music, it will be a unique treat – but like our Friday night brass fantasy, if you have the simple wish to be inspired, you need to join us.'
