Come and Sing with VOCES8

Public A Cappella Academy Workshops

'There is no purer expression of music than using an instrument which is in-built.'
– Timothy Wayne-Wright

The A Cappella Academy launched globally at UKARIA in 2022, and is directed by former member of The King’s Singers, Tim Wayne-Wright. Tim created the A Cappella Academy as a place where singers can immerse themselves in the techniques and fine details of this fascinating genre. We are thrilled to welcome VOCES8 as Ensemble-in-Residence in 2024.

Across two mornings in June, Tim will direct two public workshops for singers with a focus on this year's academy theme contemporary a cappella repertoire. During these workshops, the essential topics of accomplished ensemble singing will be explained and explored, including the effective use of a large palette of vocal colours, and detailed work on balance and blend.

In the last half an hour of each session, VOCES8 will join forces with the participants to perform all workshopped repertoire, putting these newly-developed skills into practice!

Please note that a basic music reading/following ability is required to participate. Scores and learning tracks will be emailed to participants in advance, and professional development certificates are available on request.
