Anthony Albrecht
Bach to the Bush | Music for Solo Cello
'Fluent and virtuosic'
– Sydney Morning Herald
Acclaimed cellist and co-founder of the Bowerbird Collective, Anthony Albrecht, performs a solo recital at UKARIA Cultural Centre. Anthony was the first Australian graduate of The Juilliard School's Historical Performance program in New York City, receiving his Master of Music on full scholarship, and has appeared as soloist and with prestigious ensembles throughout the world.
He has been Guest Principal cellist of the Australian Haydn Ensemble, the Orchestra of the Antipodes, Van Diemen's Band, Adelaide Baroque, Sydney Philharmonia, Ruckus (NYC) and il Pomo d’Oro (Italy), and performed alongside Monica Huggett, Jordi Savall, William Christie and Richard Egarr.
Bach to the Bush is a deeply moving recital program that Anthony has shared more than 100 times in community halls across regional Australia. Performing the works of J.S. Bach and other solo works for cello, interspersed with heartfelt musicological and philosophical commentary, this recital celebrates the beauty of the natural world and our shared humanity, evoked by this timeless repertoire.
