Questions & Answers
Two American and two central European composers combine to ask and answer questions in equal measure. Perhaps the first great American composer, Charles Ives understandably wonders what music and life are all about. Copland suggests that we should be grateful for open skies and hopeful horizons whilst Dvořák thinks that singing and dancing might be all we need. In Haydn’s Farewell Symphony, the musicians leave us to come up with our own answers!
