Since winning the Montreux Jazz Festival's International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2006, Kristin Berardi has established herself as one of Australia's most distinguished jazz luminaries. She's been a recipient of the Churchill and Freeman fellowships, performed in the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in 2018, and has won The National Bell Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album three times. Currently residing in Switzerland, Kristin is on staff at the Hochschule Luzerne, but will fly home to Australia in July to visit friends and family.

Currently based in Melbourne, bassist Sam Anning completed a Masters of Music at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music, and has toured extensively throughout the world with performances at the Montreal, Vancouver, Detroit, Jazz à Vienne, Copenhagen, Port au Prince, and Panama Jazz Festivals. He's worked with Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner, Joe Chindamo, Paul Grabowsky, and Jamie Oehlers.

After discovering one another's deep affinity for poetry and music, Kristin and Sam started performing as a duo in 2017. Their debut album Our Songs, Not Songs (2019) is a collection of original works that entwine their improvisational virtuosity with an expression more akin to folk music. In their first performance for UKARIA, Kristin and Sam perform their album live (featuring special guest appearances by ARIA Award-winning pianist and composer Andrea Keller), along with a selection of classic jazz standards.
