'If people could see into my heart, I should almost feel ashamed... all there is cold, cold as ice.'

– Letter to Constanze Mozart, September 1790

Nothing is more revealing of a person's character than their private letters, especially if they are not intended for publication. The letters of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) are candid, emotional, sometimes hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking as we follow his precarious fortunes, his triumphs and hardships, his reliance on fickle patronage, his occasional penury, his cheeky letters to his cousins and his desperation to please a tyrannical father.

As Australian theatre legend John Bell traces the life and career of Mozart, reading extensively from his letters along with comments by some of his contemporaries, charismatic pianist Simon Tedeschi performs a soundtrack to the young composer's life with a range of Mozart's most beloved works, including the Fantasia in D minor, K. 397, the Variations on 'Ah vous dirai-je, Mamn' (Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star), K. 265, and the Rondo Alla Turca.

With Love, Amadeus shines the spotlight once more on one of classical music's enduring heroes, and marks the fifth collaboration between two of Australia's leading artists from theatre and classical music, John Bell AO OBE and Simon Tedeschi.
